Inclusive Playspace Design

Create a Welcoming Learning Environment

for Children of All Abilities

We believe that children of all abilities should have an opportunity to play, learn, and grow with their friends and peers. This means providing a play environment that allows children to develop not only physically but socially and emotionally. At the end of the day, all children simply want to play, and an inclusive playspace allows them to do so.

The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design set minimum requirements for newly designed, constructed, or altered government facilities, public accommodations, and commercial facilities to be readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities. These requirements include an accessible pathway leading to the play area from the building or edge of the parking lot, an accessible path to the equipment, and surfacing materials that accommodate mobility devices. However, not all playground equipment is designed to be accessible for all children depending on their unique mobility needs.

At Playspace Design, we can go beyond meeting children’s physical needs and accessibility to design inclusive play areas that allow them to explore and fully participate in active play. Incorporate a music garden that gives all children a way to express their feelings with musical instruments. Add an outdoor trike garden bridge to connect different play areas. Create an accessible playhouse where children can engage in imaginative play. The possibilities are endless with our wide selection of outdoor classroom products.
